Angela Montigny 'Of the Stars'

This commissioned work was created in collaboration with Canadian designer Angela Montigny for her FW 2018 collection, Of the Stars, showcased at London Fashion Week. Claire Edwards was commissioned to hand embroider two star motifs from Montigny’s original designs, translating them into tactile, stitched forms. The celestial symbolism within the collection draws from Montigny’s Indigenous Cree heritage, where stars carry cultural significance connected to story, identity and ancestral knowledge. Through hand embroidery, these motifs were realised with material depth and reverence, contributing crafted detail to a contemporary fashion collection rooted in heritage and meaning.
