Major Harp Shell

Introducing a truly one-of-a-kind creation, meticulously handmade and inspired by the mesmerizing beauty of coral reefs. This exquisite piece is a testament to my passion, where every bead, sequin, and thread has been carefully hand-sewn to create a luxurious and intricate design, nestled perfectly within a stunning major harp conch shell.

The embroidery, crafted within the delicate curves of the shell, took 14 hours of precise stitching. Utilizing 3D bead embroidery techniques, I worked on a base of silk organza, incorporating a rich variety of beads, crystals, goldwork copper purls, and sequins to bring this design to life.

The inspiration behind this creation began with my experience of learning to scuba dive in the Caribbean Ocean, where I witnessed the breathtaking beauty of the underwater world. This experience, combined with extensive research, drawing, and designing during my Master of Arts in Contemporary Embroidery, culminated in the birth of "The Coral Collection."

Each piece in this collection is utterly unique, as I use a needle and thread as others might use a paintbrush, drawing directly onto the fabric and allowing the colors and materials to guide me. The result is a stunning surface that echoes the vibrant textures, colors, and forms of the coral reef.
