White Murex Shell

This one-of-a-kind creation is inspired by my deep fascination with the breathtaking beauty of coral reefs. Handcrafted with precision, each bead, sequin, and thread is meticulously sewn by hand, forming a lavish and intricate design that rests elegantly within a sculptural white murex shell.

The embroidery, which took 15 hours to complete, is carefully nestled within the shell's internal curves. Using advanced 3D bead embroidery techniques, I crafted this piece on a base of silk organza, incorporating a variety of beads, crystals, goldwork copper purls, and sequins to create a truly stunning effect.

The journey of this design began with my first scuba diving experience in the Caribbean Ocean, where I was captivated by the underwater world's vibrant beauty. Extensive research, sketching, and designing throughout my Master of Arts in Contemporary Embroidery culminated in "The Coral Collection."

Each piece in this collection is utterly unique. I use a needle and thread as others might use a paintbrush, drawing directly onto the fabric and letting the colors and materials guide me, resulting in beautiful surfaces that evoke the textures, colors, and forms of coral reefs.
